Gena Lee Nolin first caught the public eye when she was cast on the hit TV show Baywatch. The natural All-American beauty was known for her statuesque fit physique, healthy glow, and long thick blond hair. After Baywatch, Nolin was cast in the TV series Sheena, and later reprised her previous character on Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.
Today, the actress has added author and health advocate to her resume. The mother-of-three will be releasing a new book in October 2013 called Beautiful Inside and Out: Conquering Thyroid Disease with a Healthy, Happy, “Thyroid Sexy” Life, co-authored with Mary Shomon. Nolin has also created the facebook page “Thyroid Sexy” to encourage readers of the book to share their stories of living with a thyroid condition.
Nolin is candid about her challenges getting a thyroid diagnosis. The actress has spoken publicly about her experience living with an undiagnosed and untreated thyroid condition and the toll it took on her health. She had been experiencing symptoms while on Baywatch but it took a decade before she was properly diagnosed.
Now, Nolin is on a mission to educate people on thyroid illness and their treatment options. She also is collaborating with health experts like Dr. Sara Gottfried and integrated health practitioners to educate and advocate for thyroid patients.
